I’ve got a little playlist I’ve built up, and I want to share it for you guys. Should I just post it as a text, or should I learn how to use that Dropbox thing?
jokes aside I literally do not know what soft grunge or homestuck are
“Soft Grunge” is kind of a music genre, but it’s used more commonly as a descriptive term for what’s popular with the people who listen to it. Around 2005-07, the Pop part of Pop Punk had become seriously outdated, as most Pop genres tend to pitter out after 8-12 years.
The popular ear in the Punk music scene was looking for something new and different, and what became popular was this harder, greyer, sleeker, cooler style, differing away from the colorful energy that was previously attractive.
Along with the music “growing up” to match it’s maturing audience, the style of what people wore and did changed, too. That’s where all the sudo-hipster punky teenagers get their styles. It’s all Soft Grunge, because it’s the hard rocky elements of Grunge music with the softer voices and personalities of Pop Punk.
That’s why all the stuff soft grunge is trying to look fancy and cool. The scene is trying to look mature, when the demographic is a bunch of naive teenagers (not saying naive is bad, everybody has to be naive before they’re experienced)
